The advantages of white fused alumina as a lining material for medium-frequency furnaces
Case Study: Researchers at Wuhan University of Science and Technology compared three materials—tabular alumina, white fused alumina, and aluminum-chromium slag—for use as medium frequency furnace lining bricks, evaluating their resistance to corrosion by ferrosilicon slag.
Results:
The white fused alumina sample achieved a slag penetration index of 0% , demonstrating the best corrosion resistance among the three.
The tabular alumina sample had an index of 18.6%,
The aluminum-chromium slag sample reached as high as 46.3%.
Conclusion: Due to its high purity (Al₂O₃ ≥ 99.5%) and dense structure, white fused alumina effectively resists chemical attack from molten slag, making it an ideal material for medium frequency furnace and induction furnace linings.
